About René Dissel
Dissel and his artistic journey is a fascinating blend of discovery, passion, and evolution. Starting with the simple joy of exploring nature through a plastic camera as a child, his love for photography was rekindled during his career as a musician. This moment of rediscovery bore remarkable fruit when he captured the award-winning landscape photograph Catch a Plane in 2007, an image that marked a turning point in his creative life.
Deeply influenced by both classical and modern art, Dissel channels a painterly sensitivity into his photography. His oeuvre expanded significantly in 2014 with the release of meetings with Amersfoorters a striking black-and-white analog photography book that showcases his skill as a portrait artist. This pivotal work laid the foundation for his ongoing focus on black-and-white imagery, even as his abstract and minimalist explorations introduced vibrant colors into his portfolio.
Balancing his personal artistic pursuits with professional portraiture, Dissel’s mission is to celebrate human diversity and capture the essence of his subjects. He approaches every portrait as an opportunity to learn, ensuring authenticity and respect in his work.
In my art, I explore the transformative process of melting both personally and collectively. Each piece reflects a journey of dissolving old identities, discovering authenticity, and reconnecting with the natural world. Inspired by the beauty of nature’s cycles and the urgent realities of global warming, my work invites viewers to consider how embracing vulnerability might lead to deeper understanding, both of ourselves and of the world around us. The circular patterns you see in my work symbolize life’s interconnectivity and resilience. As I create, I am continually reminded of my own gratitude for life, for nature’s beauty, and for the wisdom it holds. Through my art, I strive to offer a moment of pause and reflection—a space to appreciate what truly matters and a call to live more consciously for future generations.
Discover art that bridges personal transformation with global awareness. In his latest series, Dissel captures the delicate balance between identity and environment, blending hauntingly beautiful textures with motifs inspired by nature’s cycles. Each piece is a journey into self-discovery and a reflection on our shared responsibility to protect the earth.
Join René Dissel in this exploration of vulnerability, gratitude, and interconnectedness. Experience art that asks us to soften, to see, and to remember our place in the world. Rediscover the beauty in what it means to truly melt to let go, to renew, and to act for a better future.
Let’s melt together..
He is pushing the boundaries of his own work by exploring new collaborations, including with painter Haike Bes. Together, they are venturing into an exciting new era of art by creating new combinations of a photo and a painting.Haike is a master of realistic painting, yet she skillfully combines characters from the animation world in her works, creating strikingly surreal and unexpected images. This fusion of lifelike detail with fantastical elements results in a visually captivating and thought-provoking style.
Another new area is the making of new NFT pieces that blend short mixed-media images and films, all accompanied by his original musical compositions, resulting in a cohesive and innovative multimedia artwork exclusively made as NFT art. more to come..
